The Morning After the VMA's and everyone is beating up on Miley Cyrus, Twerking down Robin Thicke. And what I want to know is, Why?
Why, do we silently sit by while young african-american girls across America, Twerk their a** off, on bus stops, school yards, youTube, teen clubs, back yard bar'b'ques, but when Miley Cyrus does it, We get offended!
Did one of America's sweet hearts just bust our cute little bubble. Say it Ain't so Cletus, you mean to tell us that Hannah Montannah is not much different than Quita an 'Nem, from the deep inner cities of broken down & impoverished neighborhoods we refer to as Hoods and Ghettos. Could it be, she bent that a** over just a lil too much like Diamond, from the Players club, as if she had had PRACTICE!
And this may be what really upset some.....WAIT FOR IT America.....she seemed to like it. There was no strain on her face, she was all smiles and grins, as if to say..."Bump You America, this is WHO I REALLY AM! You just got Pranked, Hanna Montannah was JUST AN ACT!!"
I think the Joke is on America, who has this grave double standard. When one of our urban girls Twerk, "well they are poor, no home training, and "well ya know, 48% of them don't have fathers in the home."" But when Miley Cyrus, proudly bends over in front of a OLDER man, (who in my opinion, should have been offended that production would ask him to be on the same stage with TWO CHAINS??? You ARE BETTER than that Robin!) we want to get our panties in a bunch (pun intended) and crucify Miley.
Miley Cyrus is a real person. So let's deal with the real person....A young girl who from the time she could spell her name, has been in the lime light. She's been working all her life. A millionaire before she could actually add up all the pennies in her piggy bank. And when she becomes toooo old for Disney, they kindly phase her out, and send her on her way to figure out life and find her place in the Entertainment Industry. And what we saw last night America, was just that...a young girl trynna figure it out and find her place. Is it, that Ya'll just mad, she found her place...in the TWERKING ZONE? And therefore is no different than babygirl or Ro-Ro or Ree-Ree!
And here is the truth...VMA production, could have pulled the plug on her performance, if it was soo distasteful. Robin could have turned it down. But they didn't! Why aren't we critical of VMA Production for exploiting this young girls youthfulness for shock factor ratings and Morning After Chatter? Why aren't we offended the stage was filled with other robust young ladies shaking that a** for the show! Because it was Miley?
I'm not necessarily of fan of any of it; but for CNN and other news channels to spend energy berating Hannah for twerking (oops I meant Miley)...rather than address conversation that really matters, that is disturbing!!
Lets use this as a teachable moment: Just because Miley is loaded with more money than most Americans will see in a lifetime, doesn't mean she is wise. Money doesn't equate to Wisdom.
Lets use this as a teachable moment about television ratings: Networks, production etc.. will sacrifice anyone, at any age, for good ratings. Nothing AIRS on TV that PRODUCTION DOESN'T EDIT AND APPROVE. She didn't hog tie anyone to let her TWERK on TV. We must hold the networks, production etc.. accountable.
Let's use this as a teachable moment about exploitation: the sexploitation of young girls is real and alive today; and shouldn't be tolerated by anyone! VMA's letting that crap air, was no different than a Uncle Luke & 2 Live Crew video.
I'm Just Sayin...
